The Shepherd's Name

Psalm 23:3b reminds us that the Shepherd leads the sheep on RIGHTeous paths for the sake of His Name.

I remember as a child, my dad would remind us that our actions could reflect the family name.

This hits me today, as each path I take, while bearing the Shepherd's name should not just be "good", but righteous.

The Bible tells us that none of us are righteous, not even one.

This means that in every path we take, if it's to be righteous, it must be a path that the Shepherd is leading us on.

Oftentimes those paths are not comfortable and most of the time they are paths we would never choose on our own. These paths usually lead to us losing something in and of ourselves, (dying to ourselves) in order to follow the Shepherd. These paths are often painful simply because of the loss that can come with it. However, each path comes with an eternal reward.

We may lose things, but we will always gain Life!

We may lose ourselves, but we gain Him.

Each path taken with the Shepherd, must be righteous because He is righteous. If they are not righteous paths, they affect His name totally. His name is on the line as He has chosen to associate Himself with us. He claims that believe in Him as His Sheep.

What righteous path is the Shepherd taking you on today?

Even if it's uncomfortable, remember that ultimately it will glorify His name, the name that gave His very for the Life of your soul.

This path will always either lead us or someone to Him and the glory of the Father!
